In August, some members of the rhino.fi community were targeted in a phishing scam, part of a broader wave of attacks affecting a large number of Discord servers. While we successfully recovered a significant portion of funds with the help of partners, we are continuing to work diligently with one affected individual to secure the remaining funds.
To assist in this recovery, rhino.fi is amplifying the victim’s offer of a 20% bounty for the successful return of funds held in wallet 0xb4423d49fca3bbf5e477f8dddbf70e8f656701d0.
- Recovery Method: Funds will be recovered on-chain in a secure manner and the bounty will be paid on any other blockchain chosen by the recipient, including privacy chains such as ZCash.
- Contact: If you can assist, please reach out via [email protected], our support chat on rhino.fi, Discord, Telegram, or Twitter.
Important Note: Rhino.fi’s contracts were not compromised or involved in this attack.
Industry-Wide Threat of Phishing
Phishing attacks remain a pervasive issue in the crypto space, with users losing over $40 million since 2023 alone (source). These attacks exploit vulnerabilities in user behavior and technological advancements like account abstraction, where a single signature can give fraudsters access to funds across multiple chains.
Our Commitment to User Protection
At Rhino.fi, we are deeply committed to safeguarding our users and addressing industry-wide vulnerabilities. Our initiatives include:
- Encouraging wallet providers to improve clarity around what users are signing.
- Conducting rigorous contract whitelisting and auditing.
- Raising awareness about phishing and cybersecurity risks within the community.
Together, we can work to create a safer ecosystem for all.
